About CSF
Cambridge Sustainable Food (CSF) is a network of public, private and community organisations in Cambridge and the surrounding villages, working to promote a sustainable local food system. You can read about their vision in their Food Charter. CSF are an umbrella group and run a variety of different campaigns and awareness events, including an annual Pumpkin Festival, a weekly cookery club Thyme to Cook for families and multiple campaigns on different aspects of food sustainability.
About the project
Cambridge Hub has partnered with Cambridge Sustainable Food to offer opportunities for students to volunteer and gain skills, while assisting CSF in its work to increase food sustainability in Cambridge and beyond. If you're passionate about reducing food waste, or want to learn more about ways in which to encourage healthy eating, becoming a CSF Ambassador is your chance to do just that with the support of Cambridge Hub and CSF.
One of our CSF Ambassadors from Lent term has said:"Being a CSF ambassador is great; personally I got to meet like-minded people, create my own blog, and encourage more students to consider eating sustainably!”
Get involved
Cambridge Sustainable are looking for enthusiastic students who are keen to become a CSF Ambassador for one term to help promote food sustainability in Cambridge. This would involve taking on your own small project to add capacity and creative insight to the organisation. For example, you could review a range of vegetarian restaurants, make a video about food waste or conduct interviews at CSF events. During last term, our Ambassador's projects included writing a blog with vegetarian and vegan recipes, creating an Edible Garden at Pembroke College and organising a showing of the film Cowspiracy along with a trial of Meat-free Mondays in the college hall.
Your role as a CSF Ambassador:
  • undertake your own creative project over one term
  • promote CSF, relevant events and campaigns on Facebook groups and in your college and department
  • volunteer at one CSF event per term (awareness-raising stall, cookery workshop or other event)
If you are interested in becoming a CSF Ambassador please fill in the application form in the next tab. For more information or to ask any questions, please contact us at bev@cambridgesustainablefood.org.
